Practices Supporting Awakened Action in the World
During this seven night retreat in Yelapa Mexico we will explore the practices of yoga postures, meditation techniques, breathing exercises, yoga nidra, and writing prompts to inspire self inquiry and authentic action. You will be guided through daily practices on an open air deck with flocks of birds flying overhead. Each day you will have free time to explore Yelapa’s quaint town, beaches, hikes, and waterfalls. Yelapa is located south of Puerto Vallarta and is only accessible by water taxi. This makes it a very unique experience.
The Intention of the Heart of Practice Yoga Retreat:
Our direct experience of yoga is often more potent when we practice within a community of like-minded individuals (satsang). However, how, why, and what is appropriate for one individual to the next, varies. Modern, drop-in style classes have evolved into a “one size fits all'' model that not only diverges from the traditional way yoga was passed down from teacher to student (parampara), but it can also create a sense of being exclusive, in-accessible, and even damaging for some practitioners. How do we ease this tension when practicing in community?
The Heart of Practice Yoga Retreat is designed for the sincere yoga practitioner who is seeking a deeper understanding and experience of yoga practice. We will be staying at Los Naranjos Retreat Center, which is nestled into the jungle of Yelapa–an ideal environment to untangle oursleves from daily distractions and the hyper-active pace of modern life. The combination of slowing down, tuning into the senses, intentional daily practice, wholesome community, and nutritional home-cooked meals prepared with love provides the very foundation from which we can restore and rebuild our vital resources and connect to the deep self within.
Our Accommodations
A beautiful open air palapas set in among bougainvillia, coconut, avocado, and palm trees in a small canyon that leads to a waterfall. Each day we will be provided inspiring homemade family-style vegetarian meals with a variety of fresh juices (vegan and other dietary restrictions can be accommodated).

Cost
$1800 includes accommodations, meals, and practices.
(Travel costs including the water taxis are separate). All your needs are taken care of once you arrive in Yelapa, but you may want to bring spending money for the town, snacks on the beach (although we are always fed well by the Los Naranjos staff!), donations, and tips.
How to get there
Due to flight schedules into Puerto Vallarta (PV), you may want to book prior to Saturday, the 27th. In the past, participants have opted to spend Friday night in PV to explore and enjoy. On Saturday January 27th, participants meet at Los Muertos Pier to take the 11am water taxi (380 pesos round trip or about $20 USD) to Yelapa. You may choose to come on a different boat or even an earlier day, but we will be there to welcome you when you get off the boat on Saturday. On Saturday, February 4th, we will accompany you to the Yelapa dock to catch the late morning water taxi back to PV. If you choose to leave on February 4th, book your flight for a late afternoon or early evening departure so you don’t have to feel rushed.
For more information about the water taxi please have a look here.
